History
The association of Fruit Producers SUN-SAD was established in 1997 on the initiative of 9 fruit farmers from the region of Chynowa and Biała Rawska. We have been one of the first production groups associating fruit farmers in Poland that was established as a result of the observation of changing tendencies in the fruit turnover on the internal market as well as the analysis of changes that occur in the European Union countries. In 1998, the association’s members established a limited liability company – SUN-SAD whose shareholders they became. One of the association’s founders and shareholders – Krzysztof Kobusiński became the first chairman of the company. In 2000, a storage-warehouse facility was built and put into use with a floor area of 1500m2. At that time, it was a modern grading and warehouse base with a production capacity of about 10 000t (operating store house 300t) that allowed to improve logistics and distribution, extend the choice, unify the quality of offered fruits as well as ensure supply continuity of great batches of goods. Zbigniew Przybyszeski – one of the group’s founders and shareholders became the company’s chairman. In 2003, next 6 fruit farmers joined the SUN-SAD group whereas in 2009 other 12. Currently, the company counts 27 fruit producers that run farms in the grójecko-warecki region near Biała Rawska as well as near Łomża and Gąbina. Since July 2003, Sławomir Kędzierski has been the company’s Chairman whereas Marcin Stasiak a Vice-chairman and a Commercial Manager. In 2004, the Company received an entry into the register of production groups, which allowed it to use national public funds to reimburse administrative costs. In addition, before Poland became the member of EU, the group had made use of SAPARD funds from activity – employment creation. Then, two machines were bought – gluing machine for cardboard packaging and a device for water unloading of fruits. In December 2006, the group entered the register of initially recognized groups and the Company worked out a recognition seeking plan. That was a great chance for the group for as part of that plan investments are in 75% financed from the EU support programmes. Between 2006 and 2011, an investment of extending grading-warehouse building and building of storage base was realized in order to ensure continuity of fruits supply during the entire year. In addition, lines for initial grading of apples and machines for packaging apples on dimpled form and to bags as well as other machines that improve the preparation of fruits for sales were purchased. 4 lorries were also bought in order to ensure consumers in the country and Europe fast and efficient delivery of our fruits. Moreover, many investments to the farms of the group’s members were made (wooden and plastic boxes for keeping fruits, machines that improve collection of fruits as well as cooling equipment for storage facilities). Currently, the Company has a warehouse-grading building with a floor area of 11 thousand m2, storage base and ULO cold stores for 4 thousand tons. In the distribution centre, HACCAP and BRC systems have been implemented. The majority of fruits are exported to the countries of eastern and western Europe as well as to Scandinavia. SUN-SAD cooperates with domestic hypermarket and supermarket networks as well as with numerous wholesale companies and retail points of sale. Fruit farmers from the SUN-SAD group farm 600 ha of land in total. They produce about 20 000 tons of fruits annually, mainly apples (90%), pears (5%), cherries and sour cherries (3%), plumps (2%). They also have their own storehouses and cold stores of a total capacity of 15 thousand tons, including ULO and KA cold stores for about 12 thousand tons. All the group’s shareholders have implemented at their farms the Globall Gap system. In the group’s offer, there are many varieties of apples, pears, plums and cherries. Fruit farmers – the Company’s members grow about 20 varieties of apples; Gala Must’, Royal Gala, red sports of Jonagolda, ‘Sampion’, ‘Idared’, ‘Gloster’, ‘Golden Delicious Reinders’, ‘Ligol’, ‘Elise’ constitute the most of them.
